We are pleased to present the official video recap of this year’s Warriors Weekend event, which took place on the picturesque shore of Lake Lugano last month. Organised by the mighty Warriors Family, a Lugano-based crew dating back to 1996 & more recently a non-profit association, the event, which has a strong emphasis on live music, has seen growing numbers of loyal fans in attendance each year. The video was filmed by Riccardo Gabella, Andrés Bignasca & Alejandro Caceres & edited by Andrés Bignasca. Below, you will also find photos by Roy Clavadetscher. Here are some words about this year’s edition from one of the Warriors Weekend organisers, Schianta Lepori:
Warriors Weekend was a four day celebration packed with skateboarding, music and good energy. Despite receiving no support from skate-related sponsors, the event was made possible thanks to an incredible amount of voluntary work from the locals. In a city that often makes it difficult for alternative cultures to find spaces, Warriors Weekend remains an example of what passion and collective effort can achieve.
Skaters from all over Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, France and Germany gathered in Lugano to skate, connect, and celebrate together. The event featured great skateboarding and live music surrounded by a beautiful crowd that continues to grow year after year.
This year’s edition also featured a special highlight: RSI (Radiotelevisione svizzera) premiered Skate Borders –Storie Di Skaters Nella Svizzera Italiana, a documentary about the history of skateboarding in Ticino, which showcased rare footage dating back to the very first skaters in the region.
Warriors Weekend once again proved that skateboarding culture is alive and thriving in Lugano. I’d like to say a big thank you to the people who came and helped us to keep pushing it forward. See you next year!
