On Saturday July 30, Neighbourhood Skate Club – in partnership with Vans – held its first ‘Ride With Pride’ event, for which participants of all ages and levels were invited to skate from Brighton Pier along the seafront to Hove Lagoon skatepark for a session. Founded by skateboarder Lyndsay Maclaren, Neighbourhood aims to create more opportunities for beginner and intermediate skateboarders to connect and community-build as well being committed to “speaking up and standing up for ourselves and others” – Maclaren. ‘Ride With Pride’ Vans – was Neighbourhood’s first group skate event outside London, with the goal of showing allyship, love and support to the queer skaters who make up a big part of the community.
